About the artist:
Born and raised in the Niagara region, Wayne has
always enjoyed art and sketching as a hobby, but he first became
interested in the artistry of the culinary profession and
apprenticed at various restaurants and hotels in the region. After
working for sometime in the industry and through work study programs, Wayne received his Cook's Certification and Food Service
Supervisors Diploma. While working as manager of food production
at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital he found that he
needed a creative outlet to take his mind off the daily stresses
of the job, so he decided to try painting.
First painting in oil then moving on to
watercolour, Wayne decided that he was most comfortable with
acrylic paint on canvas. Taking classes and studying on his own,
Wayne learned as much as possible about the techniques of using this
medium. Over the past 23 years he has developed his own unique
style. Wayne uses photographs, sketches and imagination to develop
each painting with special attention to detail. His work which
consists primarily of wildlife, jazz portraits, landscapes,
seascapes, still life and flowers is hanging in homes all over
Ontario and beyond.
Mr. Clarkson has recently retired from his job at
the Oakville Hospital and has relocated to north St. Catharines,
where he works on his art from his home studio. |
