I
grew up nourished by art. My grandmother created beautiful
watercolour & oil paintings which my grandfather then worked his art
in framing. With them the seeds of art were planted.
The
small community of Merritton was home. I shared a small white house
at the end of a road with eight brothers and sisters. When chores
were done I could begin my favourite pastime of sketching. I still
cherish my first sketchbook (Dennis the Menace) given to me when I
was ten.
In
1994, following the death of my grandfather, I enrolled in a
watercolour class with the hope that skills learned would allow my
grandmother and I to spend time together painting.
Further studies in watercolour came by way of another talented
family member, my cousin Mrs. Pat Green from Texas. In subsequent
years I've expanded my studies with such talented artists as Ed
Telenko, Raymond Martin, Margaret Martin, Jack Reid, Margaret
Roseman & John Leonard at the Haliburton School of Art.
Over these years there have been substantial changes in my artistic
vision and the mediums in which I work. My work also includes
pastels, acrylic and oil. Each presents its own delightful qualities
and texture that stretches my learning with each effort.
As
an artist I aspire to capture the uniqueness of each particular
subject.
My
paintings can be found in both private and corporate collections in
Canada, England and theUSA. |
