About the Artist:
Lisa was born in Lindsay, Ontario but has spent
most of her life in nearby Welland. She graduated from the Brock
University Visual Arts program with honours in 1996. Since then she
has worked in various art supply stores, and entered several local
art shows. So far art has been a hobby for her, but she is trying to
change that to something more, when she’s not chasing after her two
little ones.
Her work is inspired by experiences that move her
in her life – experiences that move her emotionally, mentally and
texturally. These experiences are expressed primarily through the
use of oils, soft pastel and papermaking. For the last eight years
she has been a part of Wayzgoose, a book arts fair that occurs every
April at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, demonstrating papermaking
and selling handmade paper items and papermaking kits.
For Lisa, creating art is a journey in learning,
learning about texture, mediums, emotions, process, the subject, and
as a result, most often herself. Her work is usually nature
oriented, and she will often work from reference photos gained from
the garden, on a hike through the woods or a trip to the zoo. |
