Painting has become a
way of life since recovering from cancer in 2006. Although I had
painted with watercolour for 10 years, it wasn’t until I experienced
art therapy courses at Wellspring Niagara that I truly found my
passion. It was during these free expression sessions that I began
to realize the excitement of just putting color to paper. This
process became such a freeing and exciting experience that I now
spend part of my days exploring the richness of acrylic color, the
composition of abstraction, and my ability to find a voice through
visual expression.
When I begin a painting,
I usually start by choosing colours and then putting them on paper
or canvas. It then becomes a process of waiting, thinking, observing
and deciding. Inspiration comes from nature, places visited, books
read and personal life experience.
I am truly fortunate to
have found this wonderful creative spirit and latent gift at this
time in my life. |
