Born and raised in St.
Catharines, Ontario (Port Dalhousie in summer), Chuck graduated in
General Dentistry from the University of Toronto in 1955. He had a
preventive practice until 1997 in St. Catharines,
specializing in crowns, bridges and orthodontics.
His passion for
painting began around 1970 under the guidance of Jay Herriott and he
has continued painting, when inspired, as a hobby. His favourite
medium is oil using a palette knife technique and lots of paint,
vivid colors and plenty of imagination. He paints a variety of
subjects. Lately, on the advice of Angie Straus (a noted NOTL
artist), he has switched to using water-based oils on stretched
canvas and feels he will paint more. He also finger paints small
scenes mainly with oil on white floor tile, a technique picked up in
Mexico.
His favourite
artists are Duaiv, Pino, Kierstead, Bateman, Rockwell, and Wayland,
who give him inspiration. His hope is to make his art more known and
available through Giclee Reproductions.
