Graduating in 1978, with
honours, from Sheridan College, Oakville in Fashion Technique and
Design, Brenda Sauder worked in the fashion industry for ten years
before going out on her own. In 1988 she launched her own line
called "Biatta." In 1990 she acquired a sizing company called
Excess Design Services Inc. and introduced freelance patternmaking
services to the fashion industry. During the 1990's, along with
manufacturing her Biatta line, Brenda and her staff also did pattern
work for over 150 manufacturers. In 2002 she opened her own store
called "The Red Poodle Boutique" in the up and coming West Toronto
neighbourhood known as "The Junction" in the Dundas and High Park
area. With family illness and a declining industry Brenda decided to move to St. Catharines to be near family and to
set the pace a little slower.
In 1990 under the
instruction of watercolour artist Art Cunnanin, Brenda spent four
years taking his classes at the local high school across the street
from where she lived in Toronto. Although her business still keeps
her very busy she looks forward to painting more as she becomes more
involved with the SCAA. " It is a great group of people and I feel
very honoured to be a part of the SCAA." |
